Member Firm Overview:
Demographics
Thirty-six (36) of the PKF North America member firms (40%) currently offer Investment Advisory
Services. In a recent survey of those firms, twenty-two (22) provided detailed information about their
practices.
Clearing Agents
The majority of those surveyed clear transactions through Charles Schwab & Co. Of those that answered
N/A (not applicable), most are not offering transactions services for their clients. Instead, they provide financial
planning advice and refer the client to a third party for the actual investment.
Assets Under Management
The majority of our members manage assets for their clients and charge for that service on a
sliding scale based upon the volume managed.
Number of Dedicated Staff
The number of staff employed by our member firms' Investment Advisory Services practices depends on
the volume of assets managed.
Revenue
Most of the Investment Advisory Services practices depend upon the CPA firm for the majority of
their revenues.
Services Performed
Our member firms provide a variety of services related to financial planning and investment consulting.
The majority of them also do tax planning.
